Madeleines are tricky. They must be freshly made, just like in a French bakery or pastry shop. We didn't want to compromise on texture or ingredients. We searched until we found one of the very few madeleine makers whose madeleines are exactly as if they were freshly baked that morning by a local baker.
Jeannette's madeleines are made to order for us with up to 33% fresh eggs and 24% Isigny AOP butter. No preservatives, no artificial colours, and no artificial flavours. They taste of fresh Normandy butter, fresh eggs and a bit of happiness...
This assortment contains 3 individually wrapped madeleines and financiers of each of the following flavours: Calvados Madeleines, Apple Madeleines, Plain Madeleines, and Almond Financiers.
The story of this Norman biscuit factory started in 1850, and all of Normandy's eventful history is intertwined into its own history. The main product range was classic butter biscuits. In 1930 Lucien Jeannette began producing madeleines. Introducing madeleine production to Normandy was a true innovation. In the 1950s Lucien Jeannette decided to retire, and hand over the reins. Having no heir, he decided to sell the factory, however her name remained. Today, even after massive logistic optimisation and scaled up production, the company still only has 25 employees who are deeply committed to the quality of the products, the meticulous selection of ingredients, and the artisanal production method.
