All of the colourings of the icing are all natural, derived solely from plants.
Maison Fortwenger has more than 200 years of experience in baking traditional gingerbread in Alsace. In 1768, the young Charles Fortwenger, a master baker, opened a workshop making tasty gingerbread in Gertwiller. Two centuries later, Fortwenger's famous gingerbread is still made with respect for the traditions of its founder: quality ingredients, a little pinch of greed for sweet treats....and a large measure of expertise!
The Risch family has been proudly following the same path for generations: preparation of the mother dough, shaping the various pieces, baking, and then decorating the goods by hand with colourful icing sugar. These are the skills that require a lightness of touch and a love of the craft.
