Terre Exotique Ancho Chilli Roughly Crushed 45g

Ancho is a mild and flavorful chilli pepper from Mexico, with fruity notes of licorice, raisins and a hint of cocoa. Ideal for sauces and slow-cooked dishes. It adds a touch of originality to vegetable purees, homemade gazpacho, or grilled meat. Scoville Scale: 3-4 (low-medium hot). It is milder than Espelette pepper, making it suitable for both adults and children. Ancho belongs to a variety called Capsicum annuum, just like Jalapeno or Chipotle. It falls under the category of sweet chillies.

 

The mildness of Ancho makes it easy to use in all sorts of recipes. Use it with both red and white meat, or delicately accentuate fish and seafood. It is of course commonly used in traditional Mexican dishes, and complements sauces and slow-cooked dishes perfectly.

It can also be added at the end of cooking to dishes like rice, pasta, or potatoes.
