Bean-to-bar can be fun! 140 years ago, François Schaal established his chocolate craftsmanship in Strasbourg, in the middle of the historical "Petite France" quarter. Passionate about his work, Mr Schaal knew how to take advantage of a modern performance and production tool. Surrounded by an authentic team of chocolatiers, he soon supplied his colleagues' shops with custom, high-quality products. Thus, he became the Chocolatier des Chocolatiers. In 1967, the Burrus family, prominent in the chocolate sector since 1912, bought the Schaal Chocolate Factory. In 1970, to increase its development, the company built new buildings in the outskirts of Strasbourg. The factory has been growing slowly and organically ever since. The values of authenticity, taste search, generosity, and proximity remain the same. In 2014, its cocoa bean plantation gave Schaal the independence to produce its very own bean-to-bar chocolates.
