Kusmi Organic Ceylon OP Loose Black Tea Tin 100g

A full-bodied organic black tea with notes of the enchanting island of Sri Lanka. Ceylon black tea is grown in a carefully selected plantation renowned for the long leaves it yields. It offers a rich, powerful flavour and a round, chocolaty scent.

 

Grade "OP" stands for "Orange Pekoe" and it means "royal leaf". The origins of this grading are thought to date back to the royal house of Orange-Nassau in the Netherlands, which used to approve certain teas it considered exceptional. This grading is still used to provide two major pieces of information about a tea: the size of its leaves, and which delicate leaves or buds are to be harvested. As it happens, the OP grade refers to whole, rolled leaves, and only the leaf bud and the two youngest leaves are picked.
